The world’s first 27-m pure electric bi-articulated bus has been launched by BYD at the company’s headquarters in Shenzhen. The vehicles has a capacity of 250 passengers and can travel at a maximum speed of 70 km/h.
The BYD K12A is compatible with the global Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, featuring an all-aluminum alloy body and BYD’s core technologies of batteries, electric motors and electronic controls. The bus is equipped with a battery heat management system, energy regenerative system and DC and AC charging ports. “One charge can last almost 300 kms”, states BYD, “and can therefore respond to the demands of a full day’s operation. “
To date, BYD has delivered a total of more than 50,000 pure electric buses. “In particular”,  points out BYD, “our pure electric buses (longer than 10-m) rank No.1 worldwide in terms of total sales, holding a dominant share in the pure electric bus market in the US, Latin America and Europe. “
