Public transport operator Arriva has ordered 54 Solaris Urbino 18 CNG buses. The vehicles will be employed in Warsaw  after Arriva won the public tender for operating selected bus lines in the Polish capital. Following to the contract, all vehicles have to be ready this year. Even though there are already 1500 Solaris buses in Warsaw, these will be the first Solaris gas-fuelled buses for this city.

The articulated Urbino 18 CNG will be fitted with 8.9 l Cummins engines (293 kW) and roof-mounted tanks boasting a 1,700 litres of compressed natural gas.

On board there will be 39 seats, voice announcement, interior and exterior surveillance, passenger counting system and emergency communication for the driver.

Solaris has been producing CNG buses since 2004. “So far”, points out the Polish manufacturer, “over 1,100 vehicles of that type have rolled out of the factory near Poznań, having been dispatched to such countries as Norway, Sweden, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and France. “
