The largest island in the Balearics pushes on natural gas and chooses the Iveco technology with 60 Urbanway 12-meter compressed natural gas buses. The vehicles were commissioned at the beginning of 2019 by the transport company EMT Palma and on August 1, 2019, Iveco Bus delivered the first eight units. The Urbanway model of the Natural Power range by Iveco Bus is 100% compatible with biomethane, produced from organic waste. «Therefore», the manufacturer points out, «these vehicles have an excellent carbon balance and represent a fundamental step towards the energy transition, with a reduction in greenhouse gas production up to 95%. With the use of natural gas, the emission level of fine particles is almost zero and nitrogen oxide emissions are reduced by over a third. Noise emissions are also reduced by 50% “.

This model is fitted with a 6-speed automatic transmission, exhaust pipe at the top of the bus, hot / cold climate control on the roof, tinted windows with sun protection. On board there are two wheelchair spaces and two ramps, four seats reserved for passengers with reduced mobility, two USB sockets in the transit area, internal monitor for passenger information. The safety equipment includes EBS braking system, cameras for reversing and for the driver’s doors, automatic fire extinguishing system for the engine, internal video surveillance system. For better driver visibility, the driving position is high.

For over 25 years the CNH Industrial Group bus brands have been involved in the production and marketing of vehicles powered by alternative energy sources, such as natural gas and hybrid-electric technology. “In this regard, the CNH Industrial Group’s buses have completed their energy transition thanks to a production in which these types of vehicles prevail over the same diesel-powered models.”
