The German bus operator Stadtwerke Münster has placed the fourth order in a row for electric buses, all branded VDL Bus & Coach. It consists of four VDL Citea SLFA-180 Electric buses. They will be put in service in the first half of 2020. At that date, a total of 16 VDL electric buses will be in operation in Münster.

The four Citeas SLFA-180 Electric have a total capacity of 45+8+1 seats and 72 standing places. They are equipped with a high capacity 288 kWh battery pack and a pantograph located above the front axle. 

Stadtwerke Münster supplies electricity, natural gas, district heating and drinking water. In addition, it carries more than 45 million passengers annually on 22 bus routes in the city. As a municipal company, Stadtwerke Münster is responsible for good air quality in Münster. Electrification of bus traffic is therefore an integral part of the climate concept for this city. The first order for electric buses was placed by Stadtwerke Münster in 2015 with five Citeas SLF-120 Electric. In 2017, the second order of the same type (five units) and then the third for two VDL Citeas SLF-120 Electric that will be put in service at the beginning of July.
