Two orders for 18 Solaris brand trolleybuses have been launched in Italy by SETA Modena and TEP Parma transport companies. The model is Trollino 12. The eight units commissioned by SETA will be adapted to the service on a trolleybus line with an atypical voltage of 750 V (usually 600-650 V). Deliveries by the end of 2020. The ten Trollinos for TEP will instead be delivered in more batches between April and July 2020.

All the vehicles will feature among others a central traction motor and traction batteries with a capacity of 45 kWh and a cooling system, all of which will allow the vehicles to cover a much longer distance without the need to be attached to overhead wires.

On board there will be space for almost 80 passengers (24 seated). The equipment includes air conditioning, passenger information system with internal and external direction displays and speakers for voice announcements, anti-graffiti coating on seats, interior walls, window pillars and battery compartment cover. Lighting will be energy-saving with LED technology.

Solaris Bus & Coach has been producing trolleybuses since 2001. Nearly 1,500 vehicles have been supplied to customers in 16 countries, of which 160 in Italy.
