Founded in 1965 as 'Celik Montaj', the company was renamed Anadolu Automotive Industries in 1981. The activity started with the production of pick-up and motorcycles to expand in 1984 to trucks on Isuzu mechanics and buses since 1987, first with minibus and then with citybuses. Meanwhile, the Japanese Isuzu entered the Turkish society with a market share of 20 percent (1986) and when they move to 35 percent (1996) the company changed the name in Anadolu Isuzu. In 1999 the turkish company moved in the factory of Gebze Sekerpinar in the Turkish city of Kocaelli, with two separate plants for trucks and buses. The vehicles built since 1984 under the license Isuzu Motors amount to some 80 000 units.
