HISTORICAL PRESENTATION
State owned company listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the Chinese Foton was established in 1996. Based in Beijing at Changping District, Foton has a workforce of over 29 000 people. Three types of product: commercial vehicles, light and heavy trucks and buses. These are built in the Foton 'AUV bus' division and proposed in urban and interurban with Yuchai, Weichai, Hino and Cummins engines. There are Natural Gas versions such as hybrid diesel-electric and hydrogen via fuel cells. In 2008 the company has signed a letter of intent for cooperation with Daimler Group.
