Citroën was founded in 1919 by André Citroën after processing industry that until then had produced mechanical and military equipment. The first car was the Citroën 10 HP launched in 1919 and produced with an innovative system for the times: the assembly line. Solution that André Citroën saw for the first time applied to Ford where he learned the most modern construction techniques in the automotive field. The success of Citroen cars lead to a strong policy of foreign expansion. So in 1923, also to circumvent the heavy customs duties, assembly branches were opende in England, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark. In 1924 was born in Milan the Citroën Italian that within a couple of years was able to produce thirty cars a day of 10C model sold at 19,800 lire in the basic version torpedo. In 1929 entered production the luxury models C4 and C6. The following year, two cars were donated to Queen Helen and built a special car on trucks C6E to celebrate the Jubilee of Pope Pius XI. Protectionist law in the Thirties adversely affected the activity of assembly cars and in a few years Citroen Italian suspend production becoming commercial company for importing cars from the parent. In 1938 Citroën's name disappears from the brand that changed in Sicam (Italian Society of Automobile Construction Milan), in 1953 became Sai (Anonymous Italian Company) and in1968 returned to the original logo of Citroën Italy. Citroën Italy today is a stock company based in Milan.
