HISTORICAL PRESENTATION

Göppel has a long experience in the construction of vehicles for passenger transport. It was 1923 when Markus Goppel founded the homonymous company in Augusta, a city in southern Germany. A few years later he began to coach bodywork. After the war many vehicles were produced in close collaboration with Mercedes Benz. But in the late Fifties Göppel increasingly cooperated with Man specializing in articulated buses and coach trailers. Since the Eighties the German manufacturer produced prototypes of special vehicles for Man. In 1987 Göppel presented the first bus in 10,18 m always on mechanical Man, a model that was built in low-floor version in the early Nineties. Meanwhile, the company expanded and in 2003 acquired 51 percent of the Neoplan Omnibus GMB, a company owned by Neoplan since 1991. Following this acquisition the company changed its name to Neoplan Göppel GmbH and was fully detected in 2006 by Göppel Bus bringing in dowry Ehernhain plant where today is concentrated the bus production in short and medium size, including the Man Lion's City M, and seats. In the Augusta factory are instead manufactured buses and special vehicles with trailers on chassis Man. Overall, the workforce amountes more than 160 employees.
