Kapena was founded in 1968 in Słupsk (Poland) with the name of KPNA (Komunalne Przedsiębiorstwo Naprawy Autobusów). The company’s main activity consisted in the repair of transport companies’ buses.
In 1992 it started working for Scania, mainly manufacturing trucks.
Two years later it started the production of minibuses on Iveco van chassis and in 1998 it started collaborating with Italian company Cacciamali, that later became its main shareholder.
In 2003, the plant of Słupsk became the headquarters of Scania Polska while Kapena moved into the adjacent new plant and started the production of Irisbus buses carrying the Kapena brand name, up until the end of 2007.
Today Kapena produces its own line of mini and midi buses and sells Irisbus vehicles in Poland.
