The Tata Motors Hispano Carocera produces bodies for buses and coaches and declares a production capacity of 2,000 vehicles per year. The range consists of citybuses, also with natural gas engine, intercity and coaches, all bodyworked on chassis of different brands. The company was established in 2009 following the acquisition of the entire capital of Hispano Carocera by Tata Motors, which already owned 21 percent of the Iberian body builder.
Tata Motors is a leading Indian automotive company. It is part of the Tata Group, a large holding which owns about a ninety companies in seven industrial fields. Tata Motors produces more than 4 milions vehicles per year for the Indian market, including cars, commercial vehicles and passenger transport means. Its products are marketed in Europe, Africa, Middle East, South and South East Asia, South America. Among its subsidiares and associates there are the Jaguar Land Rover and Fiat which has formed with Tata Motors a joint venture for the Indian market.
Hispano Carocera is an Iberian producer specialized for several decades in the manufacture of bus bodies. The company was founded in 1939 as 'Talle Napoles', a small body founded by an Italian immigrant in Zaragoza. In 1966, the body becomes part of the Iberian Barreiros Diesel Group that in 1969 was in turn acquired by Chrysler International and became ChryslerEspana. In 1971 Hispano entered the orbit of the Belgian Van Hool that created the Van Hool Espana. In 1983 was founded the Hispano Carocera.
