Wrightbus is an Irish producer of buses and coaches. The range includes models from 10.3 to 18.7 meters with two or three axles, single or double deck, and even with hybrid drive system. The vehicles are manufactured on the chassis of the main European brands such as Man, Scania, Volvo or Vdl.
The company made its debut in 1946 in Ballymena (Northern Ireland) and is named after the founder Robert Wright. Initially, the work focused on the rebodying of lorries, but in the following decades the business was oriented to passenger vehicles. In 1978 the company presented the first bus body with aluminum strucutre. Wrightbus is considered a pioneer in the segment of low floor buses which were introduced in 1993. Still under the control of the Wright family, the company is part of the Wright Group together with ExpoTech, a subsidiary specialized in design and forniture of kits for buses, and Wright Composites, a company in the composite materials field. In the recent years, the Irish Group has focused on increasing exports and contracts were signed in the United States, Hong Kong and Singapore.
