The Polish manufacturer has signed a contract in Ploiești, Romania, for the delivery of 20 Trollinos 12. According to the contract worth PLN 36 million, the vehicles will be delivered within two years from the signing date.

The 12-metre Solaris trolleybuses commissioned by the Romanian city will be powered by a 160 kW electric motor. They will be fitted with 35 seats, a space with a strap system for wheelchairs or prams and a ramp installed at the middle-door. The vehicles are entirely low-floor and offer the kneeling function. The on-board equipment will include air conditioning of the passenger compartment, passenger information system, video surveillance system cameras, routers ensuring access to wireless Internet and a passenger counting system mounted above the doors.

The ordered Trollinos 12 will be the first Solaris trolleybuses for Ploiești, but not the first ones in Romania. The Polish manufacturer has already delivered nearly 100 trolleybuses to the Romanian municipalities of Baia Mare, Galați and Cluj-Napoca. At present, Solaris is completing the delivery of 26 articulated trolleybuses to Brașov, and it has recently signed a contract for the delivery of 16 Urbino 18 electric buses to the city of Craiova. In total, the company has supplied over 300 buses and trolleybuses to the Romanian carriers.

“Over the last three years we have delivered only low- or zero-emission vehicles to the Romanian market. The order placed by the city of Ploiești represents a continuation of this resident- and environmentally friendly trend”, said Petros Spinaris, deputy CEO of Solaris.
