TAM-DuraBus was founded in 2013 on the ashes of the Slovenian company TVM (Tovarna vozil Maribor). The headquarters remains in Maribor (North Slovenia), but the ownership is 51% of the Chinese investor CHTC and 48% of Dutch DuraBus, from which the company takes its name.
The new investors plan to product various types of lorries and buses, including electrical ones. All vehicles will be marketed under the TAM brand, well known in the European markets. The origins of this brand date back to 1947 following the establishment of 'Tovarna avtomobilov Maribor', a manufacturer of trucks and buses which over the years became one of the largest of the former Yugoslavia. In the following decades the corporate name changed in MPP Razvoj and in 2001, following the merger with MPP Razvoj, became 'Tovarna vozil Maribor' (TVM). In 2004 the company entered the Viator & Vector Group (holding of 18 domestic and foreign companies in the field of logistics and automotive) but it went into receivership in 2011.
