HISTORICAL PRESENTATION

Heuliez Bus is a French company within Irisbus Group. Its buses are marketed in France with Heuliez brand and abroad with the Irisbus logo. The bus range is called Access and is dedicated to the regular services with four sizes (9,4-10,6-12-18 meters), two widths (2.33 to 2.55) and three engines (diesel, Natural Gas and hybrid). Moreover, since 2002, Heuliez has been building vehicles for Civis and Cristalis series on behalf of Irisbus. The production capacity stated by the French manufacturer amounts to 500 vehicles per year with a workforce of 450 employees. As a society, Heuliez Bus was established in 1980 but the activity started much earlier. The first body on Peugeot 177B chassis back to 1925. In 1932 Heuliez presented the first coach with wooden frame and in 1949 Heuliez debuted at Paris Fair with a coach like Citroen P 45. In the following years the range included touring coaches and advertising vehicles. The Seventies were characterized by cooperation with Mercedes Benz, which leads to the production of 600 O 305 series and another 600 in the articulated O 305G variant. After the constitution of Heuliez Bus at Rorthais site, in 1982 the Franch company signed an agreement with Renault Trucks. In 1999, following the merger of Iveco and Renault industrial division and the consequent birth of Irisbus, Heuliez Bus became a subsidiary of Irisbus. And since 2002 the French company is wholly owned by Iveco Group following the acquiring of the entire capital share of Irisbus by the Turin group.
