The Iberian manufacturer has won the tender for the supply of electric buses in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. Following the contract, Irizar will deliver 15 ie tram buses and the related charging infrastructure. The batch includes seven vehicles in the 12 meter size and another 8 in the 18 meter articulated variant.

“This is a unique project in Switzerland and in Europe,” said Hector Olabegogeaskoetxea, general manager of Irizar e-mobility, “where 12 fast-charging points of 600 kW will be installed in one of the main streets of the city and charges will be taken using green energy generated by the river Rhine at the point where it crosses Schaffhausen. Once again, the Irizar group demonstrates its ability to provide turnkey solutions by providing buses and charging stations based on the specific needs of the city “.

This project is intended to electrify the public transport in Schaffhausen and the possibility of a second phase (2022-2027) is being evaluated during which the numbers can increase up to 47 vehicles, 20 fast-charging stations and 51 charging points in the depots .
