ATM Milan has placed another order for Solaris electric buses. They are 100 units from the Urbino 12 Electric range to be delivered in spring 2021. These vehicles will join the 40 ebuses already supplied by the Polish manufacturer as for the framework agreement signed last year. When fully operational, the Solaris battery buses deployed on ATM lines will amount to 275.
The equipment of the new vehicles includes, among other devices, the Mobileye Shield + and the MirrorEye, a solution that will be implemented for test purposes on one of the electric buses in function in Milan. This solution consists in replacing the side mirrors with cameras that guarantee significantly better visibility, especially at night and in difficult weather conditions.
The collaboration between Solaris and ATM date back to 2014. Since then, the manufacturer has supplied 200 vehicles, of which 25 are electric. It should be noted that the thousandth Solaris electric bus will be among the 100 Urbino 12 electric buses just ordered in Milan.
The first Urbino battery bus was launched by Solaris in 2011. Since then, nearly 100 customers have already ordered them in 18 countries. In 2017, the electric Solaris Urbino was voted the best city bus in Europe.
