MAN Group closed 2015 with a decline in orders and turnover. This was in part due to the bad performance of the emerging countries like Brazil and Russia. Man Truck & Bus instead increased both orders and sales in Europe. The overall 2015 revenue of MAN SE dropped to 13.7 billion euro against 14,28 in 2014 (-4.1%) while orders stopped to 14.4 billion (-6%). In the commercial vehicle sector, the units ordered decreased by 12% (107,546 vehicles). The operating profit declined from 384 to 92 million euro. The restructuring charges of MAN's strategic growth plan impacted for 185 million. After taxes and financial and extraordinary items the operating profit rose from 152 to 205 million. Among the Group's divisions, the worst performances are those of MAN Latin America with a turnover of 1.04 billion (-53%) and orders more than halved (from 2.3 to 1 billion euro). Data were inevitably influenced by the economic situation of Brazil. The turnover of MAN Diesel & Turbo was positive (+ 0.98%) but orders in the Power Engineering segment declined by 13%. Far better was MAN Truck & Bus whose turnover rose to 8.14 billion (+ 5.75%) thanks to the recovery of commercial vehicles in Europe. Orders increased by 6% to 9.6 billion euro. Europe therefore remains the most important area of ​​MAN Group and represents 67% of the total market (in 2014 it was 59%), followed by the Americas (11%) and Asia (10)%.

The pure electric bus produced by BYD has made its European debut in Paris. The vehicle is currently under homologation testing before its introduction in Europe. Paris was chosen for this preview appearance thanks to a drive by the city’s mayor to reduce pollution from such vehicles. BYD electric bus is powered by a 180kw (241bhp) engine. The Chinese manufacturer declares a range of 200 km under typical operating conditions and a recharge time of 2.5 hours. Isbrand Ho, Managing Director of BYD Europe, said: “We’ll shortly be announcing our introduction plans for our coach in Europe, with France as our first market. Many of the technologies we have developed about our city bus range – also with experience of millions of kilometres of in service running - are applicable to this new model: the BYD pure electric coach. We are confident we have a vehicle which exactly suits the city’s needs”.

Produced in Lithuania, Dancer bus is a very special vehicle. It travels with the electrical energy from wind power and it has a design that has never seen before. It was originally an old Škoda TR14 trolleybus. Then "Vejo Projects", a company with Lithuanian and German capital specializing in the development of transport systems powered by renewable energy for the international markets, turned it into Dancer bus. The original engine has been replaced by four electric motors in the wheels which produce energy thanks to the constantly active wind turbines. The weight of the bus was then cut by 57% thanks to the replacement of the old roof and side sheets with vertical transparent panels made from recycled materials. In this way, the bus moves more smoothly and requires less energy. It is also widely illuminated by natural light as well as providing a broad overview of the city, even through the interactive panels that can be programmed to display video and images. To date, there are two Dancer bus in service in Kaunas, Lithuania's second largest city by population. The goal is to convert the entire fleet over the next year.

The Kayoola bus built by Kiira Motors Corporation is the first solar bus entered into service in Africa. With a full of electricity it travels for 80 kilometers with a maximum of 35 people on board. It debuted on February 16, 2016, in Kampala, Uganda's capital. The vehicle is fitted with an electric motor powered by two batteries. One of these batteries is recharged by 12 solar panels installed on the roof, while the other can be recharged while the bus is stopped. The charging time stated by the company is about an hour for each battery. This is just one of many projects that the African continent is deploying in the renewable energy sector, from Morocco to South Africa to Kenya. This is confirmed by the International Energy Agency (IEA) through the 2015 Energy Outlook report that talks about economic growth in Africa thanks to renewable energies.

The bus operator Coaches Presas S.L. based in Lalin, Galicia, Spain, has joined the initiative Theatre Bus Arriva. The idea is to use the bus as a space for setting up shows in different locations as well as to enliven the journey of those who use this means of transport. The vehicle is a CS 40 Magnus bodied by Castrosua. It has a capacity of 60 seats fitted with seat belt and the inside is set up like a real theater with the stage built in the public audience. The list of shows that will take place in the framework of this cultural initiative includes titles such as 'Traveling with Don Quixote', 'Once upon a time', 'Hamlet'.
