Jan 25, 2012 - Loyalty to the Setra brand
Belgian bus operator Voyages Léonard is renewing its current fleet with an order of 17 Setra vehicles, thus confirming its choice for the renown brand. The latest purchase consists of 17 TopClass models. These vehicles are part of an order for 32 Daimler coaches commissioned by the Luxembourg group Sales-Lentz, the new owner of Voyages Léonard since January 2011. Ten of these vehicles have already been delivered, they are: five double-decker S 431 DT, four high-deck S 416 HDH and one S 415 HD. These coaches are equipped with glass roofs, multichannel audio systems and the latest safety systems available on the market. Seven additional coaches will be delivered during the course of the year.

A Mago 2 Cabriolet, the famous model by Iberian manufacturer Indcar, showed up at Fitur, the International Tourism Fair that took place in Madrid from January 18th to the 22nd. Owned by operator Coaches Jimenez Dorado, the vehicle provided a showcase for urban tourism services of ‘sightseeing’, in which the Spanish company specializes. The vehicle is in service in Bratislava and is equipped with Datavox, a multilingual commentary system with up to 16 language channels, and seats with headphone plugs for stereo listening.

A Man Lion’s Coach was chosen for the transport of EHC München, the ice hockey team of Munich. The 13,8 m L model with an engine of 440 hp has 55 seats and is equipped to provide maximum comfort. The coach also includes a meeting room with a table for discussions as well as a curtain to guarantee privacy. Additionally there are 2 screen monitors, equipped with DVD player, for use during pre-game presentations and post-game analysis. Other comfort features include a kitchen inclusive of a refrigerated bar, two fridges and a coffee machine. EHC fans can participate in a contest to come up with a creative name for the coach. On February 21st the winner will travel with the team for the game in Nuremberg.
Jan 16, 2012 - Li.Nea likes Irisbus GX127
The Li.Nea group, in consortium with Ataf of Florence, confirms its liking for Irisbus GX127 with Allison automatic transmission. After a trial phase during which one such model has been deployed for service in the narrow streets of Scandicci, suburban Florence, Li.Nea has placed an order for two more vehicles. They are 9,42 m long and 2,33 m wide and they have a maximum radius of 8,22 m. For this reason they are ideal for travel through the narrow roads in historic town centres as well as for roads on the hills. In addition, the automatic transmission Allison gearbox (the 6 speed T280R series) guarantees for a smooth gear change and thus for a comfortable drive and travel experience. The engine is the 246 hp Tector F4A, EEV compliant by means of particulate filter.

Geneva’s public transport company (TPG) and the city of Turin, represented by its public transport operator (GTT), will be guests of honour at the 5th edition of Transports Publics in Paris (5-7 June 2012). These are two examples of the European transport network tour that the Parisian event has undertaken. The Swiss operator is dealing with continuously increasing mobility (170 million visitors every year and 465 thousand a day) and the city of Turin is dealing with the strengthening of its LPT with the long-term objective to give public transport a 50% share in transportation choice.
Jan 11, 2012 - Busworld Asia postponed to 2013
Busworld Asia, the most important showcase for the bus and coach sector in the Asian market, has been cancelled for the current year. The motivation is that organizers, pressed by the Chinese bus industry, are working to make the event more international in order to transform it into the Asian equivalent of Busworld Europe. The meeting has been postponed to March 20-22 2013 and it will take place in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Busworld Kortijk will also take place in 2013, but at different dates (18-23 October).
Dec 29,2011 - New models for India
With the recent introduction of three new models, the choice of Volvo Buses in India is expanding. Two of them are 14,5m in length and feature a steerable tag-axle. The first is the 9400PX intercity model with 370 hp Volvo engine combined to the automatic Volvo I-Shift gearbox and which also incorporates comfort features such as a toilet, pantry and VOD navigation system. The other multi-axle model is the Volvo 7400XL, conceived for city transport and capable of carrying 55% more passengers. The third new model is the Volvo 9100 medium range tourist coach known for its embodiment of safety, quality and care for the environment. With the addition of these three models the Volvo bus range present in the Indian market amounts to ten.
Dec 21, 2011 - To the conquest of Europe
Solaris strengthens its European sales network by backing four new sales teams. In Belgium and in Luxembourg Solaris will be represented by Bus&Coach Trading SA, whose managing director Pascal Debaille counts on decades of sales experience for major brands. While the MTC Groep BV, one of the main providers of services to Dutch local public transport operators will be representing Solaris in the Netherlands. Finally in Slovakia, where Solaris has already been supplying vehicles in Bratislava and Kosice. The presence in the Slovakian market is now being consolidated by the opening of local sales subsidiary Solaris Slovakia s.r.o.
