VBZ Zurich is converting line 83 with the Hess trolleybus instead of the diesel buses used so far. The eight new vehicles are the latest generation battery-powered trolleybuses based on Hess ‘SwissTrolley plus’ technology. Thanks to the powerful traction batteries, these vehicles are able to cover longer sections without catenary. According to the Swiss transport company, the move to the trolleybus would save over 200 liters of diesel and about 540 tons of CO2 per year.
The new vehicles offer large multifunctional areas with space for prams and two wheelchairs, USB sockets, eco-leather seat covers.
Zurich is a city with a long trolleybus tradition, trolleybuses have been popular here for more than eighty years.
