Daimler Buses has inaugurated one of the major competence centers for Mercedes-Benz and Setra buses. It is the BusWorld Home (BWH) in Winterthur, in the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland. Here EvoBus Schweiz AG (Swiss branch of the German brand) now concentrates all its know-how. The newly built site brings together sales departments (new and used vehicles), administration and services on an area of 20,000 square meters. The staff has 97 people. The workshop offers 28 spaces for buses, from minibuses to the 4-meter Setra double decker coach or the Mercedes-Benz CapaCity bus with its 21 meters in length. In the specialized workshop and the electric one, bodywork repairs and painting are carried out, there is also a diagnostic track and various vehicle washing systems. Whether it’s local or regional customers or buses in transit, this comprehensive service, offered under the OmniIplus service brand, is unique in Switzerland.

The BWH Winterthur is also ready for electromobility. Together with the Daimler Buses offices in Mannheim and Dortmund, it is one of the European training centers for electric buses. Here, drivers and mechanics (external customers and service partners) as well as internal specialists are specifically trained on a multilevel concept for the professional handling of electric vehicles and their high-voltage technology. A specially equipped workplace is available in the workshop for the Mercedes eCitaro. “This workshop designed for the new challenges of electromobility sets new standards for the maintenance of electric buses,” says Daimler Buses. “With its 33-meter-long roof work station, one can work on several vehicles simultaneously. For the repair of high-voltage batteries, a platform with an area of 105 m² is ideally accessible above the workshop, from the roof work station. The high-voltage batteries are transported by crane directly from the roof of the bus to one of the lifting tables for battery repair. “
