Second largest city in Norway and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bergen is preparing to welcome 125 MAN biogas-powered buses to its fleet. Intended for the transport company Tide Buss, the ordered MAN include 54 Lion’s City G of 18 meters with E2876 LUH gas engine and 49 seats, 50 Lion’s City of 12 meters for 37 seated passengers and 21 Lion’s City L LE 14.7 meter long with 49 seats and 310-hp (228 kW) E2876 LUH natural gas engine. All vehicles meet the Euro 6d emission requirements.
The new buses will enter service in the northern part of Bergen connecting the areas of Åsane, Arna and Osterøy, where Tide Buss took over operation of the bus routes in October 2020.
Fueled with treated biogas, CNG buses can be operated in a virtually carbon-neutral manner, thus providing a sustainable public transport solution. It’s a clear signal launched by Tie Buss which already focused on this power supply, other city buses fueled with biogas are in fact used in the city of Trondheim, in central Norway.
